Earth Day '10 mamma Tierra - mother Earth
Greetings of Love, light and awakening to everybody on this years Earth Day!
Certain ancient aboroginal tribes insists upon their belief that we do not own the earth, it is the Earth who owns us. However it the idea of Man above Nature which has given way to the concept of Man versus Nature- a battle for a lost cause. These anthropocentric ideas hurt the very soul and function of our planet. Earth is our mother and we are here only because she has lovingly sustained us thus far.
Our world has come almost full circle in its awakening and realisation that we must live in harmony with nature. This was the way thousands of years ago in the dawn of civilization. Today, every individual's concious action and thought is paving this forgotten path once again.
However, I do notice contradictions abound all about us. For instance, while searching for "Dragonfly", a good song by Ziggy Marley (an ecology affirming song if you like). the auto generated ads by google gave me ' expert suggestions' such as "Insecticides, Pesticides and PEST control"!O_o
WE dont really need to KILL pests by spraying a load of harmful chemicals on them, do we? We could instead evolve our thinking, put our heads together n go about the problem in better ways. Intergrated Pest Management suggests something called 'companian planting' when dealing with garden pest problems. Growing certain herbs and veggies together naturally controls/balances pests and plant diseases; the 'friendly' bug on one invading the 'pesky' bug on the other. Simple and natural! Any thing we attempt to do, nature does it in much more innovative ways than we could have imagined. We are here to learn.
[On this note, for any other pest problems, please always think organic first because there will be such an option available. We've had it with 'artifical' 'secretive' 'quick fix' chemicals adultering and choking up the earth. No more, please!]
I feel it is a great time to be ALIVE. Its a time when we can give to our mother all she needs in her troubled times.
-In any small way that we can and with our own two hands-

of mice and men
a town girl sees a village boy strumming softly on his guitar
his sisters, a brown puppy surrond him by the sunny steps of his hut
she wishes for such humble pleasures and a peek into his heart
a village boy hears a town girl singing softly to herself
through breezy curtians on a high window he hopes to catch a glimpse
he longs for such lofty pleasures and a peek into her heart
what needless divides have we created on such boundless space?
walls of earth of money of fear of folly
walls fated to crumble and cave in on the very society that built it

smile, its April
Welcome april, welcome spring!
ive always liked the sound of the word April.. i like the way it feels when i say it... how the tongue softly twirls and tickles the roof of my mouth. I like the wave of nostalgia that hits me when I think of April too.
Its specail to me beacuse maybe I was born in this month. maybe because I picture my childhood among little yellow springtime flowers. Or more so because it means new beginnings- of all things fresh, explosion of colours, songs of birds and the light of our great warm sun! Wishing everybody under it, a joyful april!!
